The continuous assessment component will carry a weight of not more than 40% and the balance 60% is assigned for the end of semester examination. The overall grade for the course will be decided based on the performance of a student at both continuous assessment and end of semester examination.
When a student has not completed the continuous assessment during the year due to a valid reason, he or she will be allowed to participate in the continuous assessment held in the succeeding year. When a course consists of several types of continuous assessment, even if a student does not complete all forms, the final marks will be calculated based on the total marks allocated for the continuous assessment. If a student gets absent for continuous assessment without any valid reason, he or she will be given a zero mark. In case a student completes continuous assessment, but is failed or absent from the end-semester examination, he or she can carry forward the marks obtained for continuous assessment to the succeeding year.
A student shall not be permitted to sit the examination unless the head of the study programme has certified that he or she has completed the courses of study for the examination.
