The CA Sri Lanka program is a premier accounting qualification designed to develop globally recognized Chartered Accountants. Offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), this program equips students with the skills and knowledge needed for high-level accounting and finance roles. The 2025-2030 Curriculum introduces a comprehensive and forward-thinking approach to accounting education. It integrates emerging trends such as sustainability, digital transformation, and global financial standards to ensure graduates remain competitive in the evolving business environment. The curriculum emphasizes technical expertise, analytical thinking, and ethical practices, preparing students to excel in leadership roles within the finance and business sectors.

To enroll as a Registered Student, a person needs one of the following qualifications:

  • Three Simple Passes at G.C.E. Advanced Level in any Stream at one sitting (London/Cambridge/Indian A/L).
  • A Degree of a University in Sri Lanka or of any other University as approved by the Council of the Institute.
  • C.E Ordinary Level with a first degree offered by UGC recognised institutions or other accredited institutions.
  • Postgraduate degrees offered by UGC recognised institutions or other accredited institutions.
  • C.E. Ordinary level with postgraduate diploma offered by UGC recognised institutions or other accredited institutions.
  • The qualifications equivalent to NVQ Level 4 which is equivalent to Advanced Level Certificate (GCE A/L or equivalent)
  • Executive diploma in Accounting, Business and Strategy offered by CA Sri Lanka.
  • Second Year Examination of the Higher National Diploma in Accountancy/ Diploma in Accountancy or the Higher National Diploma in Commerce/ Diploma in Commerce of the Sri Lanka Technical College.
  • First Stage of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (C.I.M.A., UK).
  • First Stage of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (A.C.C.A., UK).
  • Final Examination of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators (I.C.S.A., UK)
  • Full Qualifications offered by the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI)
  • Final Examination of the Institute of Financial Accountants (I.F.A., UK)
  • Final Examination of the Association of International Accountants (A.I.A., UK)
  • Final Examination of the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka. (A.A.T., Sri Lanka)
  • Final Examination of the Association of Accounting Technicians (A.A.T., UK)
  • Final Examination of the Institute of Bankers in Sri Lanka or UK.
  • Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka
  • Final Examination of the Association of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka
  • Membership of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
  • Full qualification in Certified Tax Advisor.
  • Members of the Institute of Taxation of Sri Lanka.
  • Members of the Institute of Internal Auditors
  • Membership of the Sri Lanka Government Accountant Service.
  • Membership of the Sri Lanka Government Audit Service.
  • Certified Information Systems Auditors (CISA)
  • Any other qualification approved by the Council

Assessments and Evaluation

Business Level : 

  • Total Marks Allocated: 100 marks
  • Assessment Format: 50 Objective Test Questions (OTQs) of two marks each
  • Mode of Assessment: Computer-Based Assessment
  • Duration of the Assessment: 2 hours per module
  • Pass Mark: 50%

 Corporate Level : 

  • Total Marks Allocated: 100 marks
  • Assessment Format:
    • Section A (50 Marks): Five short scenario-based questions of ten marks each based on mini-scenarios leading to non-complex application and analysis. All questions are compulsory to attempt.
    • Section B (50 Marks): Two long scenario-based questions of 25 marks each based on complex scenario-based application and analysis. Students have the option to attempt two questions out of the three questions given.
  • Mode of Assessment: Paper-Based Examination
  • Duration of the Assessment: 3 hours per module
  • Pass Mark: 50%

 Strategic Level : 

  • Total Marks Allocated: 100 marks
  • Assessment Format:
    • Section A (50 Marks): One compulsory mini-case question of 50 marks.
    • Section B (50 Marks): Two scenario-based questions of 25 marks each based on complex scenario-based application and analysis. Students have the option to attempt two questions out of the three questions given.
  • Mode of Assessment: Paper-Based Examination
  • Duration of the Assessment: 3 hours per module
  • Pass Mark: 50%

Exam Details:

  • Business Level             : Four exams per year (every 3 months)
  • Corporate Level            : Two exams per year (June and December)
